The University of Texas of the Permian Basin | Residence & Dining Hall
The UTPB Residence Hall and Dining Facility was the first Residence Hall on the UTPB campus, although it was RSA’s eighth Residence Life project for the University. The new Residence Hall was programmed for 310 beds with 80 percent private bedroom suites and 20 percent dual occupancy beds. RSA analyzed the entire campus proposing three site concepts for consideration by the University. The 15,000 SF 2 story Dining Facility is designed to accommodate the 310 residents in the Residence Hall in addition to students living in multiple Student Apartment Complexes on campus (designed by RSA) for a total initial dining population of 400 meal plans. The Dining Complex is expandable to accommodate 350 additional meal plans associated with the Phase II Residence Hall master planned for the campus. The two story Dining Center, designed in conjunction with Chartwells food service consultant DesignSmart, incorporates their signature “Pulse on Dining” Concept with multiple serveries/food prep stations offering a variety of cuisines. Dining options including those for special diets are provided on both levels with an elevator and a serpentine sculptural staircase penetrating an oval shaped opening connecting the two. A well landscaped outdoor dining area and a second floor trellis shaded veranda (add alternate) provide additional seating options and future expansion for the next Residence Hall.
